One can only imagine what it will look like, if churches starts to use Point of Sales (POS) terminals to collect offerings during services. It may certainly have to get to that point because the cases of church theft seems to be on the increase.

Two suspected armed robbers who stole N954,000 church offering, from
St James’ Cathedral Bishops’ Court, Igarra, Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo state, were shot and killed by operatives of the Edo State Police Command on Tuesday.
They were shot dead by the police while trying to escape interrogation.

PM NEWS reports that the third suspect, who is very close to the church and happens to be like an adopted son of the Bishop of the church, Rt. Rev. Jolly Oyekpen, gave out the information of the church offerings to his friends.

The other two suspects met their death after falling for the bait of a new 2 million naira deal formulated by the police and the principal suspect. While trying to escape when they discovered they had been trapped, the police shot them dead.

The alleged informant who is still alive, has spent N20, 000 out of his N300, 000 share and is presently cooling off in the police custody despite his marriage plans that has already been fixed for this year.
