DPO ACCUSED OF RAPE FOUND WEEPING IN CELL

Mr. Adekunle Awe, the Divisional Police Officer of Onikan Police Station was found weeping in his detained cell at the state police command headquarters, Ikeja.
This DPO was accused of raping a 31 years old woman in his custody, who was detained in his station.
Idowu Akinwumi, the victim accused Awe of having carnal knowledge of her and threatening her life, before allegedly extorting N30, 000 from her and five other suspects, on the 15th of April.
An eyewitness at the state police command headquarters, Ikeja, where the DPO was being held, disclosed that Awe was shedding tears in the cell and blaming his predicament on the devil.
He was heard cursing the devil for bringing the suspect his way and putting him in trouble. He prayed that God should intervene in the case and protect his job. He is currently awaiting trial.
